How To Announce Yourself At The Big Stage? – Jesse Ryder (New Zealand)
Well guys, check out this rookie from New Zealand. At first sight he won’t look a fit enough player. He would remind you of Inzamam-Ul-Haq who debuted in the 1992 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. You will tend to under-rate his ability. But make sure you don’t.
None of us knew about Jesse Ryder before the start of the ongoing Series between England and New Zealand in New Zealand.I actually watched the first T20 between these teams which the English won.I was very much impressed with a diving effort from Jesse Ryder at the boundary to take a catch which was dropped. It was a very tough chance and it would have been a great catch had he taken it.He ran about 20-25 metres to his right along the boundary and dived full-length in order to catch it.The ball was hit quite flat and hard.
When he came in to bat,he didn’t look so very impressive. Then I never got to see the second T20 and the first ODI.I just got to read that Jesse Ryder(79 runs off 62 balls) and Brendon McCullum(80 runs off 47 balls) gave New Zealand a healthy start.
But I got to watch the second ODI today. The English were bowled out for a paltry 159 off 35.1 overs off their allotted 36 overs due to rain interruption. They initially batted beautifully to reach 85/2 off about 17 overs. But then they collapsed like a pack of cards.
The New Zealanders then walked into bat.The England players were on a roll and looked fired up.Ryan Sidebottom started off with a maiden over and was charging upto the Batsman. But then on,it was New Zealand all the way.Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder slaughtered the England bowlers as though they were playing a game against the school boys.
They offered a few chances but it wasn’t accepted.Soon both of them set foot on the accelerator and the scoreboard was ticking at an incredible rate. They scored at over 9 an over. Both,Jesse Ryder and Brendom McCullum displayed an array of shots filled with both brute force and sheer control. The revised target of 165 was achieved in 18.1 overs without losing any wicket. In due course they broke the Best Opening Partnership for New Zealand against England.
Though the match was completed very early, the crowd at Hamilton will have something to cherish about. They’ve got to see the rise of their new Hero,Jesse Ryder.Another good thing about this chap is that he doesn’t slog the ball.He plays perfect Cricketing shots.People,do check him out. He’s a treat to watch when in full flow.
