He played some exquisite shots on both sides of the wicket. His drives were very special. In fact the entire South African team played beautifully but Hasim Amla’s innings was a stand out. It was initially set up by Neil McKenzie who’s on a dream comeback making a solid 94.
Amla went on from strength to strength and brought up his 150 sooner. Later in the afternoon, Mark Boucher and Morne Morkel sent the Indians on a leather hunt in the sheering sun at Chennai. Even later came a blast from the aggressive Dale Steyn. He played a reverse slog-sweep off Harbhajan Singh that was a treat to the spectators. The innings finally ended for 540 when Harbhajan Singh had Dale Steyn caught by R.P.Singh.

Indians came out to bat with another 25 overs to go. The Indians gave back what they recieved and reached 82 for no loss at stumps with Virender Sehwag reaching his 50 off 59 balls. Wasim Jaffer also looked comfortable at the crease and both of them hit one six over third man.
Inspite of this start and the other shows like Harbhajan Singh’s 5 for 164, Hasim Amla’s innings remains the highlight for the day without any doubt. South Africa are having a very good debut in Chennai.
