344682.jpgPakistan Cricket Board has banned Shoaib Akthar for five years based on a disciplinary action. Shoiab Akthar( 32 years ) said that he will fight against his ban in the court. But if he’s found guilty, he might well forget the idea of playing for Pakistan again.

It all started in February when Akthar made a public statement against the board when he was just given a retainership rather than a central contract. He said that this move by the Board affected him a lot and hence he was angry and told comething like that. He said he apologised to the Board in front of the media and public for the same reason. He felt that the Board was too harsh on him to ban him for five years.

Another player, Danish Kaneria, also made a public statement stating that he demanded better respect as a Senior Player in the team when he was demoted from Class B to Class C in the contract list. He was let off with a huge reprimand. But Shoaib was given a five year ban as he was already in a probation period of two years after the Mohammed Asif incident at the T20 World Cup in South Africa which saw him ousted from the tournament, fined USD 52,000 and saw him out of action for 13 more matches.

The PCB on the other hand claim that Akthar’s on-field presence is a damage to the Pakistani Team and he brought a negative image to Pakistan Cricket. Akthar replied back by requesting them to find out whether this was true by consulting the Team Captain and the Coach. He expressed his wish to serve the Pakistani team for years to come.

If he’s found guilty, this might well be the end to an roller-coaster career which saw the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. He has been a Cricketer who has been a role-model for both how to be and how not to be. Lets hope for the best.
