It was a cracker of a contest at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai between the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The wicket was known to be a run fest and it did live upto the expectation. It played true till the end. The Chennai Super Kings were put into bat and they lost a couple of early wickets. But Matthew Hayden, Suresh Raina, M.S. Dhoni and Jacob Oram made sure that the team reached 200 for the second successive time in the tournament.

Hayden played a wonderful innings hitting the bowlers all over the park and so did Suresh Raina. Both of them tried matching each other shot by shot. The Super Kings reached 208/5 in the given 20 overs. A lot was expected of Sanath Jayasuriya as Sachin Tendulkar was ruled out of yesterdays’ encounter too. But he couldn’t do much either. Robin Uthappa started playing some extravagant shots and lost his wicket in the process after scoring 43.

Off the last five overs, 75 runs was needed. Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh joined force and made it tough for thr Super Kings’ bowlers. Both played some wonderful shots along with some lusty blows making the ball sail over the fence with ease. Harbhajan Singh was finally caught off Muralidaran’s bowling in the penultimate over. 19 runs were required in the last over which proved just a little too much for the Mumbai Indians. They lost the game by 6 runs in this thriller. But Abhishek Nayar remained unbeaten in the process which would make him a batsman to reckon. Matthew Hayden was declared the Man-Of-the-Match for his knock.
