Finally Mumbai Taste Success
Mumbai have finally managed to pull one in their fifth game of this campaign with a clear margin of 7 wickets over Kolkatta Knight Riders who have been one of the prospective tournament winners. This should boost the confidence of this Mumbai Indians team who have been facing some problems, both on the field and off it.
Sachin Tendulkar was again declared unfit and Harbhajan Singh was banned for 11 matches. This meant it was Shaun Pollock who had to take up the responsibility. But this time he got his big guns firing. He picked up two crucial wickets of Saurav Ganguly and the dangerous Brendon McCullum in the very first over of the match. Sanath Jayasuriya bowled beautifully and finished of with the best figures in IPL so far of 3 for 14 off 4 overs. This helped the Mumbai Indians restrict the Kolkatta Knight Riders for a mere 137/8 in 20 overs.
This should have been an easy chase but it was not as the Mumbai Indians lost three quick wickets and were suffering at 25/3 before Dwayne Bravo and Robin Uthappa saw them overhaul the total without any more hiccups. They put on a century stand and Dwayne Bravo brought up his first fifty of this campaign. This should get them started and the costliest team in the league will want to make it to the next round at any cost. Saurav Ganguly admitted that his side hadn’t batted upto what was expected of them.
