After the Sehwag blitz yesterday which seemed to be the turning point of the game, it was upto the other batsmen to take the team to the shore and voila, they did it. India have gone 1-0 in the series. In due course, the Indians chased down their highest target at home. India were set a target of 387.

The day was full of entertainment. Though India got off with an inauspicious start losing Rahul dravid early, everything fell in place. V.V.S. Laxman looked in ominous touch during his short stay and looked good for more. But it finally boiled down to Sachin and Yuvraj. Both played the game that they were good at. Both attacked and defended giving the bowler the merit.

Andrew Flintoff was the only bowler who looked like picking up a wicket everytime that he came to bowl. The duo saw him off comfortably and then turned the tide. Both kept rotating strike and kept the scoreboard ticking. The Chennai crowd cheered almost every single run that was scored. Sachin Tendulkar finally achieved something that he wanted to do for quite sometime now. He has always wanted to hit the winning runs along with a century to go with it.

When questioned, Yuvraj Singh said that even his dream of winning a test match for India along with Tendulkar had come true. Both supported each other equally. The shots that Sachin unleashed were tremendous. His paddle sweeps were very effective on this crumbling wicket. He dedicated his forty first ton to all the people who are undergoing some hard times after the Mumbai attacks.

Fittingly, Virender Sehwag was declared the Man-Of-The-Match for his scintillating effort in the second innings that set up the game for the Indians. Both, Andrew Strauss’ and Paul Collingwood’s efforts were completely eclipsed. It was quite a relief for the Chennai crowd to get a complete game with a result. They were outstanding.

I was also there at the ground and I clicked a few pics and recorded a few videos during the course of the game. I’ll soon post the link here. Do check it out. All are candid shots and it will tell you how well everything was organised. The security provided was outstanding. The six-wicket victory will give India an edge when the game goes to Mohali where they recently beat Australia by 320 runs this October. Good chances for India to get to the Number Two spot in the rankings.
